Carolyn Collman, MS, ATRI-C, ACE, NETA is an exercise physiologist, aquatic therapy/fitness specialist, nutritionist and
yoga instructor with advanced training in treating rheumatic diseases and sports injuries with aquatic exercise therapy. She is a graduate of Stanford University with advanced degrees in exercise physiology and nutrition from the University of Oregon and Clayton College. She also holds certifications in aquatic therapy, yoga and personal training.
Carolyn was previously an exercise physiologist and aquatic therapist for Canyon Ranch in Tucson where she helped launch Canyon Ranch's state-of-the-art aquatic therapy center. She was responsible for training staff and consulted on the design of the therapy pools. A freelance writer specializing in health and fitness, Carolyn's former column, "The Training Edge" in Arizona's Fitness Plus Magazine, was a favorite among competitive athletes and weekend warriors.
As a wellness consultant and senior exercise specialist, Carolyn specializes in developing wellness programs for retirement communities throughout the country. With her extensive background in aquatic therapy and exercise, she also offers aquatic facility design consulting services.
She is frequent speaker and writer on nutrition, health and fitness and aquatic athletic conditioning and rehab and she was a "top health blogger" and "health maven" for the BeWell Stanford and Wellsphere wellness blogging networks. Carolyn was also a recurring guest nutritionist for the Dr. Smiles radio show.
Carolyn has been in business for herself as a health and fitness professional the past 26 years. Her multi-disclipinary expertise combined with her experience as an elite athlete have evolved into her "Be Well", whole-person philosophy when working with her clients.
A former elite distance runner, Carolyn placed 31st in the 2000 Olympic Marathon Trials with a personal best of 2:47:08. She was the first place female finisher in a number of races, including the Ogasa-Kakegawa Marathon in Japan.
Carolyn still runs, but these days instead of racing marathons, she enjoys competing and performing in ballroom dancing.
Carolyn educates every client to approach their health the way an athlete does.
